Committees

FAER Committees are composed of dedicated volunteer members who are anesthesiologists and other professionals who are committed to advancing innovation and scientific discovery in our specialty. Note that FAER Board Chair Charles W. Emala Sr., MD, MS, and FAER President and Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) Max B. Kelz, MD, PhD, serve as non-voting members on all FAER Committees.

Academic Pathways Committee

The Academic Pathways Committee’s efforts are focused on the pipeline of physician-scientists entering anesthesiology research. The committee reviews, advises, and makes recommendations on matters related to the pipeline and FAER programs directed towards medical students and anesthesiology resident physicians.

Development Committee

FAER is working to ensure that research and innovation remain the bedrock foundation of our specialty. We are pursuing many research and education funding opportunities. Our Development Committee is the leader in these efforts. Finance Committee

The FAER Finance Committee is responsible for ensuring FAER maintains a sustainable business model and that success of grants can be quantified. Most importantly, the Finance Committee ensures that FAER can continue providing funding to early investigators for anesthesiology research.

Nominations Committee

The Nominations Committee helps ensure the effectiveness of the FAER Board of Directors and that membership comprises a broad range of expertise and experience. The committee selects nominees and alternates for Board membership from among nominations submitted to FAER by current and past Directors as a part of a formal call for nominations, with chosen nominees then approved by the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) Board.
