The Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) would like to congratulate this year’s recipient of the FAER Mentoring Excellence in Research Award, Miriam M. Treggiari, MD, MPH, PhD, Paul G. Barash Distinguished Professor of Anesthesiology and Professor of Population Health Sciences and Neurology at Duke University.

Dr. Miriam Treggiari HeadshotThe Mentoring Excellence in Research Award recognizes the value of outstanding mentors in anesthesiology. Dr. Treggiari perfectly encapsulates these traits.. Consistently recognized for her “unwavering commitment to mentorship,” Dr. Treggiari has served as a wellspring of experience and thoughtful guidance for mentees and peers alike in the realms of anesthesiology and beyond.

Complimenting the exceptional training she has offered her mentees in preparing them for success as physician-scientists, Dr. Treggiari is also recognized for her contributions as a mentor beyond the science itself. One mentee noted: “Equally impactful is the way she leads, with humility, kindness, and integrity, molding not only my research trajectory but also the kind of academic leader and mentor I aspire to become.” Dr. Treggiari is also celebrated for her part in helping establish and refine collaborative research infrastructures at multiple leading academic departments, bolstering channels for future generations of investigators to grow and connect.

FAER is proud to present Dr. Treggiari this year’s Mentoring Excellence in Research Award. We hope you will join us in congratulating her on this achievement as well as thanking her for her contributions to our specialty as an anesthesiologist, researcher, and mentor.

We would also like to welcome and congratulate the newest members of the Academy of Research Mentors in Anesthesiology (ARMA). Click on the pictures of our new members to view their faculty profiles.
