Medical Scientist Training Program

The goal of the FAER Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) is to support research among students by providing an opportunity to present their work among peers and established scientists in the specialty of anesthesiology. FAER provides a $1,500 grant to anesthesiology programs to help defray the cost of sending one of their MD/PhD or DO/PhD students to the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) ANESTHESIOLOGY® annual meeting to present research or a scholarly project. This program sponsors students who are considering research in anesthesiology-related fields as part of their career and who have data from a bench, clinical, health services, or educational research or a rigorous QI project to present. Data collection need not be complete. Case reports or literature reviews will not be accepted.

Application Deadlines

Student applications for the MSTP will open April 15. The deadline to submit an MSTP application and associated ASA member application is August 1, 2026.
