In 2025, the inaugural Medical Student Component Crew System, a micro committee volunteering opportunity for medical students, focused on creating a series of useful and easy-to-consume infographics and videos highlighting career paths and the importance of advocating for the specialty as medical students, and hosted a leadership conference. The Medical Student Component Governing Council officers hosted 10 virtual events with more than 500 attendees.
Sixteen residents were given the ASA Resident Distinction Award in its first annual cycle. This award highlights residents who demonstrate professional citizenship, leadership, and scholarship capabilities.
ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2025 brought more than 1,500 residents and 2,000 medical students together; 1,200 of these medical student registrants had the unique and valuable opportunity to engage with program directors at the Residency Programs Open House with more than 120 residency programs participating.
