Members are at the heart of all we do. Enhancing member experience and expanding membership through service, engagement, and value are critical priorities. By delivering new programs, creating community and belonging throughout the organization, and partnering with our state component societies, ASA grew its membership to an all-time high of more than 60,000 members.
We’re looking to the future with our Member and Customer Relationship Strategy to explore new benefit offerings and personalized experiences to strengthen our relationship with all anesthesiologists — based on data and insights gleaned through the biannual Member Value and Satisfaction research — across practice types and settings, career stages, and subspecialties.
Our advocacy efforts advanced multiple ASA strategies in support of the economic well-being of anesthesiologists’ practices and patient access to safe, high-quality anesthesia care. Working at both the state and federal level, and in tandem with our state component societies and members across the country, we achieved successes on a wide variety of policy issues throughout the year.

ASA hosted more than 50 in-person, virtual, and hybrid meetings in support of delivering successful educational, advocacy, and governance meetings for our members in 2025. The Society also partnered with the Association Management Center and other local organizations on more than 40 additional revenue-generating events at the ASA Conference Center.
ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2025 in San Antonio was an outstanding success with overall attendance of more than 11,200 and featured nearly 400 sessions, 819 abstracts, and 2,152 Medically Challenging Cases.

In-person attendance reached 10,811, surpassing goal by almost 700. With hybrid, total attendance was more than 11,200.

ASA® ADVANCE: The Anesthesiology Business Event had an attendance of 1,025, growing attendance 6% from 2024.

The LEGISLATIVE CONFERENCE hosted 562 total attendees, supporting ASA’s exceptional leadership in advocacy.
ASA’s media and public outreach strengthened the visibility and voice of the specialty. Positioning anesthesiologists as leaders in the health care ecosystem, ASA earned impressive media coverage on a range of topics, including the latest research presented at ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2025.
A year of growth and expansion in the publications portfolio supported ASA's strategy to disseminate anesthesiology-related discoveries through traditional and innovative channels, as well as strengthening the voice and visibility of the specialty.
With Anesthesiology Open joining Anesthesiology in the journals portfolio, authors have an expanded opportunity to share their work with a global audience.
