In March 2025, the ASA Board of Directors voted to make a substantial investment in AQI to rebuild the National Anesthesia Clinical Outcomes Registry (NACOR) and pursue development of the Anesthesia Community Registry (ACR), powered by Epic. With this, and in support of the strategy to advance anesthesiologist-led care delivery models that improve patient safety, clinical outcomes, patient and physician experience, and clinical efficiency, AQI is moving beyond MIPS, demonstrating value to the anesthesia community through actionable data, quality improvement, educational content, research, and innovation.
With the support of ASA, AQI is building a new NACOR registry internally. It will be owned and operationalized by AQI, and amplified through new dashboards, benchmarking, and the ACR, powered by Epic. This registry innovation will deliver value to members through the power of data.
AQI also launched an ABA-approved Resident Research Rotation, offering residents the opportunity to investigate a research hypothesis through the NACOR registry, a large national clinical database. Residents are mentored by AQI physician leaders and receive research credits upon successful completion of the program.
