Anesthesiology Open, a new peer reviewed open access journal that complements and expands the reach of Anesthesiology, launched on October 1, 2025.
Led by Executive Editor Yandong Jiang, MD, PhD, Anesthesiology Openbroadens the opportunities for scientific exchange offered by Anesthesiology. The mission of Anesthesiology Open is to promote scientific discovery and knowledge in perioperative, critical care, pain, palliative care, and sleep medicine to advance patient care.
In December 2025, the new journal published ASA guidance: “American Society of Anesthesiologists Statement on Anesthesiologist-led Care” and “American Society of Anesthesiologists Statement on ASA Physical Status Classification System.”
Social media dissemination to a large group of followers on Instagram, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Facebook, and X ensures that content from both Anesthesiology and Anesthesiology Open is widely accessed.
