Connect–Learn–Continue (CLC) Moderator Responsibilities

Below is an overview of expectations for both the live session experience and post-session engagement. CLC sessions are designed to be highly interactive and discussion based. Rooms will be set with multiple roundtables, with participants seated in small groups. There will be no slides or AV capabilities. A QR code will be posted outside the room, allowing participants to share their contact information if they wish to stay connected after the session.

Before the session
Moderators should collaborate with their 2–3 panelists to align on the discussion topic and approach, ensuring a cohesive and engaging experience.

During the session
As a CLC moderator, you are expected to:

  • Deliver a brief opening to introduce the topic, panelists, and session format
  • Encourage small-group engagement by prompting discussion at each table
  • Promote continued engagement by encouraging attendees to scan the QR code

After the session: Continue the connection
Following the session, moderators will receive attendee contact information collected via the QR code (for participants who opted in). To support the “Continue” portion of your session, please consider in advance how you will engage participants after the meeting

ASA will assist with the coordination and outreach for your first post-meeting communication. You and your group will be responsible for all subsequent scheduling, communication, resource sharing, and administrative tasks. Please plan your activities with this in mind.

Suggested strategies for continued engagement

  • Share resources
    • Provide reading lists, articles, or guidelines related to your topic
    • Distribute handouts or a summary of key takeaways
  • Offer virtual engagement opportunities
    • Host a follow-up Zoom or Teams discussion
    • Offer to connect via email for follow-up questions
  • Encourage collaboration
    • Suggest forming small working groups to continue discussion and learning
  • Maintain momentum
    • Send a follow-up email summarizing key insights and encouraging ongoing dialogue
