All sessions are 60 minutes long, except for the Hands-on Workshops (90 minutes).
Panel
A session providing presentations on multiple topics around a centralized theme and includes two to three speakers plus a moderator. The moderator may be one of the speakers.
Refresher Course Lecture
A presentation by one or two speakers that addresses a broad overview of basic science issues or clinical applications of knowledge important to anesthesiology.
Clinical Forum
A case-based presentation that provides practical and clinically relevant medical education on emerging topics in anesthesiology, with at least one case and up to three cases provided at the time of submission. This session has one moderator and up to three speakers. The moderator may be one of the speakers.
Point-Counterpoint
A moderated presentation of opposing opinions that addresses current clinical controversies. This session has a moderator and two speakers.
Fireside Chat
This session consists of a moderator plus one to three expert panelists seated on a stage. Panelists will stimulate discussion using prepared questions on a specific theme and will respond to questions from the attendees. There will be no slide presentations.
Connect – Learn – Continue
Small group round table discussions. This session will start with a short presentation to all attendees by a moderator and two to three panelists, followed by small groups seated at round tables. Faculty will circulate in the room and participate in round table discussions. There will be no slide presentations. Attendees may scan a QR code after the session to opt in for further connection and resources.
Medical Student Session
Present on topics pertinent to medical student attendees interested in seeking a career in anesthesiology (and its subspecialties). Sessions can be by one to four presenters with an optional moderator. Submissions in this category will be reviewed and evaluated by a collaborative group separately from the sessions listed above.
Resident & Fellow Session
Present on topics pertinent to anesthesiology residents/fellows. Non-clinical topics are preferable to prepare attendees to enter and thrive in their practices. Sessions may include one to four presenters with an optional moderator. Submissions in this category will be reviewed by a collaborative group separately from the sessions listed above.
Hands-on Workshop
A workshop uses materials such as simulated patients and equipment to offer guided skills practice and emphasize active attendee participation. Every 60 minutes of instruction should include at least 10 minutes of questions and answers. Most hands-on workshops are 90 minutes long and are ticketed sessions.
