MCAT Pathway Program Application

The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) Committee on Professional Diversity (CPD) invites undergraduate students with an interest in the field of anesthesiology to apply for the MCAT Pathway Program. Awardees will receive support through ASA valued at $3,000 to participate in an MCAT preparation course through MIM^TM.

This rigorous (virtual) curriculum is focused on increasing the competitiveness of participants for admission to medical school through a culturally sensitive holistic program, which includes important learning strategies, test taking skills, content tutors, social emotional skill building, and more. Participants will meet weekly from September / October 2025 through May 2026.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Students who have demonstrated a strong commitment to low-income and medically underserved communities
• Planning a new or reapplication to medical school for 2026
• Enrolled in or have completed required pre-med courses, including biochemistry and physics

Undergraduate students who meet the above criteria and have an interest in anesthesiology are invited to submit the following application materials to the MCAT Pathway Program subcommittee of the CPD:

1. One letter of reference from an ASA member
2. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
3. A statement of purpose (450 words) to include the following:
   • How this program would benefit you
   • Your interest in anesthesiology
   • Your long-term goals in medicine and how you anticipate serving low income/underserved communities in the future
   • Your financial need
