The Advocacy Poster Session will take place during two one-hour sessions held on Monday, May 18 10:30AM -12:30PM. The posters will be presented in Capitol A located in the lobby level of the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.
Medical students, AA students, residents, and fellows are invited to submit an abstract to present at ASA’s inaugural Advocacy Poster Session on May 18 at LEGCON 2026.
The Advocacy Poster Session is a valuable opportunity to highlight advocacy and policy efforts that advance patient safety and support the specialty – from creative ways to integrate advocacy into the medical education curriculum to pilot programs at the state level engaging anesthesiologists on key legislative issues.
Abstract submissions were due March 1, 2026 11:59PM PST. Applicants selected to present their work during the Advocacy Poster Session at LEGCON will be notified before the end of March 2026.
Please note: you must still register for LEGCON via your state component society. Registration is expected to open in early March.
Abstracts describing how advocacy, health policy, or civic engagement training is integrated into undergraduate or graduate medical education through curricula, experiential learning, or educational innovations.
Abstracts highlighting grassroots approaches that engage physicians or trainees in advocacy efforts at the local, state, or national level, including mobilization and leadership development strategies.
Abstracts focused on the use of data, metrics, or analytic methods to inform advocacy efforts to measure and/or evaluate the impact of local/national health policy initiatives (including but not limited to physician anesthesia workforce, payment, IDR process, Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement, private equity in healthcare).
