Q: Do I need to sign up, or will I be automatically registered?
A: Yes, you must sign up and opt in each year.
Q: How do I sign up?
A: If you are an ABA diplomate and an ASA member, visit the ABA website to register for MOCA Minute and opt in.
Q: Does my participation get reported automatically or do I need to self-report?
A: ABA sends us a list of those individuals who have opted in and completed their questions by the end of each quarter. Your CME will be automatically uploaded into your ASA Education Center Transcript and reported to ABA, once you complete the evaluation.
Q: How do I know if my claimed credits have been recognized?
A: Each quarter after you complete the MOCA Minute program and ABA processes the data, ASA will send you an email with a link to the ASA Education Center where you can complete a course evaluation and claim credit. You only receive credit for questions answered during the quarter they were released.
Q: What do I do if my CME credits don’t show up in my ABA account?
A: If you are an ASA member and you opted in, contact ASA at educationcenter@asahq.org.
Q: Did ASA just offer me $160 worth of free CME for the year?
A: Yes!
Q: What does the MOCA Minute CME program cost?
A: Non-ASA members pay a $40 processing fee per quarter. Please note that ABA charges for MOCA participation still apply.
Q: How and when do I sign up?
A: If you are an ABA diplomate, visit the ABA website to register for MOCA Minute and opt in during your annual MOCA registration.
Q: How do I claim credits and pay?
A: You will receive an email from ASA after the close of any quarter in which you participate. You will have 60 days from the date of the notice to pay the fee. You will be asked to pay the $40 fee before you click through to the credit claiming page. You only receive credit for questions answered during the quarter they were released.
Q: Can I order and pay now?
A: It doesn't quite work that way. Starting in Q1 2026, here's how to participate:
1. Opt in for the current quarter and answer questions
2. After the quarter ends, receive a notice from ASA
3. Pay the fee for the previous quarter when you claim credit
Q: Does my participation get reported automatically or do I need to self-report?
A: Your CME will be automatically reported to ABA, once you complete the questions, pay the fee, and complete the credit claiming process.
Q: What do I do if my CME credits don’t show up in my ABA account?
A: Check with the ABA at coms@theaba.org to make sure you opted in during the quarter, completed all the questions, and clicked through the evaluation and payment.
Q: When can I expect to receive an email about my quarterly credits for 2026?
A: The ABA sends your credit data to ASA for processing in the month following the end of the quarter.
By the end of April, July, October, and January, eligible diplomates will receive an email. For ASA members, credits will be in your transcript. For nonmembers, you will receive the link to pay the processing fee for that quarter.
Q: Do I still get credit if I answer a question wrong?
A: Yes. Right or wrong, you’re still learning! Even if you miss a question, you will earn CME credit, as long as you answered during the quarter it was released.
Q: Do I need to complete the ASA course evaluation before CME is reported to ABA?
A: Yes, your evaluation unlocks your certificate, which will then be reported to the ABA.
Q: Is the Quality Improvement component included?
A: No. Credits only apply to the Continuing Medical Education (CME) component.
Q: Is the cost of MOCA Minute from the ABA changing?
A: No. It remains free for ASA members and just $40 per quarter for non-member processing.
Q: Why did the process change to quarterly?
A: Based on your feedback! By changing the MOCA Minute credit claiming process to quarterly, CME will be uploaded to your ASA transcript and the ABA GO portal on a quarterly basis, allowing you to track credits as they are earned rather than waiting for them to display the following year.
