The mission of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) is to raise and maintain the standards of the medical practice of anesthesiology and to improve patient care. ASA is organized via three major pillars known as the Divisions of Administrative Affairs, Professional Affairs, and Scientific Affairs. The ASA Division of Professional Affairs is further organized according to the two major areas within the ASA Division of Professional Affairs and consists of the Section on Professional Standards and the Section on Professional Practice.
ASA divisions, sections, and committees are an integral part in the Society’s governance. They are represented at the annual House of Delegates meeting, and throughout the year, to establish programming and make recommendations to support the best interest of members and the ASA as a whole. Explore the leadership and divisional structure.
The Committee on Innovation is within the ASA Section on Professional Practice, for the purpose of collaborating with ASA Committees that address issues related to professional practice. These include the committees on Academic Anesthesiology, Economics, Governmental Affairs, Practice Management, Professional Development, and Rural Access to Anesthesia Care. The opportunities to collaborate efforts in these areas is without limit and fascinating to entertain.
The great minds and thought leaders within the Committee on Innovation help us to realize the mission of the Society to enhance the practice of anesthesiology well into the future.
